What is NAVYA?
• NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) is a new pilot initiative launched under the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision to promote women-led development.
Launched By:
• Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD)
• Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
• Launched on June 25, 2025, in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh
Objective:
• To empower adolescent girls (16–18 years) who have completed Class 10, through vocational training, especially in non-traditional and emerging job roles.
Coverage and Focus:
• Pilot implementation in 27 districts across 19 states
• Special focus on aspirational districts and North-Eastern region
Implementation Strategy:
• Institutional convergence between MWCD and MSDE
• Training aligned with existing schemes like:
• Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
• PM Vishwakarma Scheme
Significance:
• Promotes inclusive development
• Enhances employability and self-confidence
• Encourages girls’ participation in India’s socio-economic growth.
